Fergal Flaherty New Album “Everything you do”
Fergal Flaherty from Bettystown Co. Meath hit the Music scene In Ireland in 2000, when he released his debut album “Don’t think twice” on the Tulip Record label. The album received great reviews not only in Ireland but around the Country music scene worldwide. “Don’t think Twice” was played in more than 20 different countries globally and from it he had two successful tours of Australia in 2002 and two in Denmark the following year.
“Don’t think twice” consisted of twelve great tracks, four of them written by Fergal. Being an associate member of IMRO Fergal soon learned that it was his original song’s that were getting the most airplay. So in April 2003 he flew to Nashville where he recorded his second official album “Everything you do” with one of Nashville’s finest musicians and producers Mike Headrick.
Fergal’s songwriting ability comes to the forefront in this album with nine of the twelve tracks self penned. He also had one track written for him by Danish songwriter Toni Abbo whom he met while on tour in Denmark. The Track is called “Some will some won’t” and is a fine up tempo country ballad.
The album open’s up with the Title track “Everything you do” a driving up tempo song which has a very catchy melody. It is sure to be a hit not only with line dancers but music lovers across the board.
Track 3 on the album is a beautiful melodic waltz called “Waltz with me tonight” it compares love to a waltz and how the love of his life was his first waltz and will be his last.
Like his debut album Fergal recorded a duet this time with Nashville based singer Jennifer McBee. The song “The best we can do” was written by Fergal while he was on the road touring. It’s contents describes the pressures on family life while on tour and how both parties share the same heartaches when apart.
Fergal does a fine country version of the old Lindisfarne hit “Meet me on the Corner”. He also covers Jimmy McCarthy’s “Bright Blue Rose” a haunting ballad with a Nashville touch.
Track 9 is another self penned song called “You feel the same way too” it is a catchy love song with a country swing feel, it shows the quality of the musicians who have played on the Album.
Track 11 “Daniel’s Angel’s” was written one night while watching TV. A documentary on Daniel O Donnell and his plight for the Romanian Children was aired on RTE. Being obviously touched by what he saw Fergal put pen to paper and within half an hour “Daniel’s Angels” was written.
Track 12, the final track, “I thank the Lord” is a little message of thanks to God for giving him everything that is so precious to him, his Wife three children and the gift to write and perform his Music.
Message from Fergal
I would like to thank all the DJ’s who have played my music in the past and appreciate any airplay you can give me with my new album. Releasing an album with original material is a brave step for any artist and I know the difficulty of breaking new ground.
You will have noticed that the album was recorded in 2003. The last three years I have had many changes in my life, some good luck and some bad luck, but thank God I am back on track and have finally got round to releasing the album which I feel very excited about.
I am currently based in Tenerife where I have a share in a business called the “Hole in the Wall” Irish bar. I entertain there 6 nights a week to a full house of mainly British and Irish and during certain times of the year Scandinavian, German, American, etc.
Even though I am based in Tenerife I still get back to Ireland and the UK 2-3 times a year to perform some shows.
I will be launching the album on the 18th of June in the Symphony hall Birmingham with my good friend Bob Brolly MBE from BBC West-Midlands.
Bob puts on an Irish gala night every year for charity and this year I will be performing with “Tommy Fleming” “Michael English” and many more.
Every Thursday in the “Hole in the wall” we raise money for Bob’s charities and last year we handed Bob a cheque of €12,800 for Breast Cancer research. Bob does a great amount of work for the Irish communities in the West-Midlands of England and I am grateful to be part of his show.
Again I very much appreciate the airplay you can give me. If you need any more information or would like an Interview please don’t hesitate to contact me.
God Bless & Take Care
